# When should my student take chemistry?

**Students in the 11th and 12th grades have had the most success when taking this course.** We designed this course to be an honors-level course. There is a lot of math and the course moves at a fast pace to cover all of the material.

If you are looking for a class for younger students or students you’re not sure would be able to keep up with the pace of this course, we recommend checking out our [Astronomy](https://journeyhomeschoolacademy.com/experience-astronomy/), [Biology](https://journeyhomeschoolacademy.com/experience-biology/), or [Earth Science](https://journeyhomeschoolacademy.com/earth-science-explored/) courses.
